United States: the Health Minister acknowledges the fact that life begins at conception

Publié le 30 Oct, 2017

In his strategic plan for 2018-2022, the American Health Minister “recognised the fact that life begins at conception“. The current strategic plan drafted under the Obama administration, seeks to accomplish its mission “through programmes and initiatives covering a wide range of activities to help Americans at every stage in life“. In the next plan, the term “from conception” were added to the end of this phrase. He also pointed out that “the ultimate aim is to improve health care outcomes for everyone, including unborn babies“. Moreover, the expression “natural death“, in reference to end of life, has been added to the new plan, “suggesting that the end of life should never be accelerated by human intervention“. The draft document is open to public comment up until 27 October. If approved, it will replace the previous five-year plan under the Obama administration.

High profile” personalities have joined the Department of Health since the election of Donald Trump: Teresa Manning, Deputy Secretary for Population Affairs, supervising the federal financing of family planning programmes, Charmaine Yoest, former President of Americans United for Life, Deputy Secretary for Public Affairs, and Matthew Bowman, lawyer who has worked for Alliance Defending Freedom.
