UK: opening of a national sperm bank in Birmingham

Publié le 30 Oct, 2014

A national sperm bank has just opened in the Birmingham Women’s Hospital in the United Kingdom. To date, British women have mostly turned to Denmark and the United States for sperm donation.

Since 2004, the number of sperm donors has constantly risen but the increase in the demand from single women for in-vitro fertilisation via sperm donation is even greater: from 413 women in 2003, this number fell to 399 in 2009 but increased to 635 in 2013.
