Tonio Borg: new European Health Commissioner

 On Wednesday 21 November, "the European Parliament formally approved the nomination of the Maltese Tonio Borg to the post of European Commissioner in charge of Health and Consumer Affairs" by 386 votes to 281 and 28 abstentions. During his audition by the parliamentary committees, Mr Borg had been viewed “generally in a positive manner."

According to the European Commission and the Parliament, Mr Borg "will be able to take up his post in a few days when his nomination has been ratified by the Council of Europe."
