The White House is opposed to halting finance for Americain familiy planning

Publié le 13 Août, 2015

The debate is gaining momentum in the United States since videos filmed with hidden cameras showing family planning employees “offering to sell the tissue of aborted foetuses” went on-line in early July.

Following the proposal of Republican Senators who envisage suspending finance given to the American family planning association or its subsidiaries (cf. Gènéthique du 29 juillet 2015), the White House “threatened on Friday to implement the Presidential veto vis-à-vis any Republican initiative seeking to reduce the budget allocated to the most important family planning organisation in the United States”.  The spokesperson for the American Government, Josh Earnest, in fact reported that “any ideological financial project would certainly face a presidential veto”.
