On Wednesday, the Council of Ministers of the European Union ratified the nomination of Tonio Borg to the post of European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Affairs. The European Parliament had made this nomination on 21 November. This confirmation by the Council of Ministers enables the new Commissioner to take up his duties.
