Scotland: debating a draft law on assisted suicide

Publié le 26 Oct, 2014

In Scotland, the Parliamentary Justice Committee is preparing to debate a draft law that would legalise assisted suicide from the age of 16 for the terminally ill or those suffering from serious diseases with only a short life expectancy. In order to block this draft law, the British Anti-Euthanasia group Care not Killing (CNK) has just launched an on-line petition denouncing “unnecessary, unethical and uncontrollable changes“.

As far as Dr. Gordon Mac Donald, spokesperson for the CNK is concerned, a change in the law would “place pressure on vulnerable people to end their lives for fear of being a financial, emotional or care burden upon others“.
