Quebec will not vote on the draft euthanasia law

 Legislation on medically assisted dying will not be adopted before the two-week parliamentary recess because of parliamentary discord. Although rumours of local elections, possibly initiated during this break, are rife, all draft laws, including the one on euthanasia, will be put on hold. 

The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) wanted to avoid any rushed decision prior to the impact of local elections and deplored politicization of the legislation. This draft law has been debated mainly amongst healthcare professionals (Gènéthique press review on February 14th, 2013)
