Poland: morning after pill available only on prescription?

Publié le 24 Feb, 2017

Since 2015, in accordance with European legislation, the morning after pill has been available in Poland without prescription. On Tuesday, the Polish Government adopted a draft bill seeking to limit access to the morning after pill, which will be sold only on prescription.

This step has raised concerns amongst feminist movements afraid that emergency contraception is losing “its direction”: “to be effective, it must be administered as quickly as possible”.

The draft bill has yet to be voted in by Parliament.
