Obamacare: college in northern Indiana gets exemption on abortion and contraception

Publié le 25 Jun, 2018

An Evangelical Christian college in northern Indiana recently won a long-running lawsuit seeking exemption from Obamacare on religious grounds. Under the 2010 law, all employers must provide employees with healthcare coverage, including for contraception, abortion, and sterilisation procedures[1].

Federal Judge Jon E. DiGuilio said the Department of Justice under the Trump administration “no longer defends the measure”, citing that it “would violate the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act”.

The president of the college was pleased with the outcome, because “the decision will allow the school to provide health care benefits while maintaining their moral beliefs”.
