On 31 May, Florida Governor, Rick Scott, validated a draft bill allowing the State to issue “stillborn certificates” in the event of miscarriages. These certificates will be issued on parental request, for miscarriages occurring between the ninth and twentieth week of pregnancy [1]. This will allow parents to officially name their unborn “foetus”.
[1] After twenty weeks, the State is already legally authorised to issue death certificates and birth certificates at the request of the parents.
