European Online Citizens’ Consultation: reminding the European Union of the importance of respect for human life

Publié le 27 Jun, 2018

Launched in May 2018, a citizens’ consultation will enable all Europeans to voice their opinion on the direction in which they wish to steer the European Union.

For the first time, the European Commission convened a citizens’ panel on 5 and 6 May 2018 to draft a public consultation. Ninety-six Europeans met in Brussels to compile an online draft questionnaire comprising 12 questions. This participatory democracy initiative places citizens right at the heart of the debate on the future of Europe.

The consultation is part of the debate on the future of the European Union at 27, launched with the publication of the Commission’s white paper on 1st March 2017.

It will be open up to the first EU27 Summit Meeting to be held in Sibiu, Romania, on 9 May 2019. A final report will be presented in the last few weeks leading up to the European elections.

This consultation is an opportunity to promote values in respect of human life.
