Following hormonal ovarian stimulation and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), the risk of embryo chromosomal anomalies sometimes exceeds 50%. Regardless of other medical reasons, some of these anomalies appear to be due to the type of treatment used to “produce” the embryos. The Oxford Academy initially highlighted this link in a study [1] showing “a strong correlation between artificial reproduction treatment techniques and the incidence of chromosomal anomalies in human embryos generated by IVF cycles”.
