Chile: the abortion debate reopens

 In Chile, the case of a girl of 11 pregnant following rape has reopened the debate over abortion. Since 1973, abortion for medical reasons has been banned. This friday on social media, "numerous Chileans expressed their discontent" and "launched online campaigns for the legalization of abortion in cases such as rape and where the pregnancy represents a health risk for the mother." However, last year the Chilean Senae rejected three attempts to legalize elective abortions in certain cases.
