An “incredibly realistic” bionic hand

Publié le 22 Feb, 2016

Zhe Xu and Emanuel Todorov, two scientists at Washington University, have developed an “incredibly realistic” bionic hand. This prosthesis “reproduces almost perfectly all of the movements of a normal hand”, and can even grasp objects, “which no other robotic hand has managed to date”.

To do this, the scientists scanned the human hand and printed a 3D replica.  Long-term, they “even believe that their work could be used in 3D scaffolding to research limb reconstruction”. The prosthesis could provide a “basis for cell reconstruction”.
