American scientists [1] have emphasised in a study that approximately “six percent of women in the United States who were infected with the Zika virus during their pregnancy had foetuses or babies with congenital deformities”. The study was published in the American Medical Association.

Dr. Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, emphasises that the “rate of microcephaly and other foetal deformities in babies born to American women is similar to the estimated rate of infection in Brazil”.
