The incident occurred last April, in the March for Life in Brussels. An unauthorised counter-demonstration by pro-abortion activists was stopped by the police. Today, these individuals face administrative sanctions “of up to 350 Euros” and the City of Brussels has initiated legal proceedings “for malicious intent to halt traffic, especially buses and trams”.
“These persons must acknowledge the fact that they are entitled to demonstrate but, in this instance, they violated a series of rules. We offered mediation but they refused. That’s their right! They will now go before the sanctioning municipal officer and possibly defend their rights”, explained Philippe Close, Mayor of the City.
