A Belgian hospital challenges current legislation and advertises for sperm donors

In Belgium, an advertisement drafted by the UZ Brussels Hospital and calling for sperm donors, has led the Federal Medicines and Medical Products Agency to initiate legal proceedings.

 

In fact, the law formally prohibits fertility centres to advertise for donor recruitment. Maggie De Block, Belgian Health Minister confirms, “We are in favour of creativity but current legislation must be followed”.
