Scientists at Tokyo University and linked to the medical company, Next 21, have produced a new line of artificial bones, in 3D, which they have called CT Bone. Around one hundred patients have already benefited from this technique with a satisfaction rate of 80%.
Every year, 80,000 Japanese undergo bone grafting. This 3D modelling technique will produce “large quantities of bone replacements more quickly and at lower cost”(1).
Next21 eventually intends to create a “ready-to-use bone bank”.
