An online survey carried out by the ICGP[1] shows that a quarter of Irish doctors do not want to offer services linked to abortion and are reluctant to refer pregnant women to a colleague.
Only 32% of the 3,500 GPs interviewed are currently ready and willing to provide such services. The remaining 43% have stated that they are unavailable to offer these services due to competence, resources or conscientious objection but agree to refer women to another practitioner.
